 The Dampier Junior Photography Awards have been celebrating the creativity of our young community since 2023. Created to inspire young people to get behind the camera, the awards are all about exploring, noticing the world around you and capturing it from your own point of view.

Open to young photographers aged 6–14 years, no fancy equipment is needed! Just a great idea, a creative eye and an image you’re proud to share.

Photography is a fantastic way for young people to tell a story, capture a moment or show us something familiar in a completely new way. Whether it’s a favourite place, a pet, a landscape, an interesting detail or a moment with family and friends, we want to see the world through their eyes.

There is cash prize money to be won across the competition, giving our young photographers even more reason to get creative and have a go.

One of the special parts of the Dampier Junior Photography Awards is seeing the entries come to life. Selected digital photographs are professionally printed onto canvas and displayed as part of the exhibition, giving young photographers the opportunity to see their work presented for the community to enjoy.

And the best part? After the exhibition, their printed canvas is theirs to keep — a lasting keepsake of their creativity and their involvement in the awards.

The Dampier Junior Photography Awards are about much more than winning. They’re about encouraging creativity, building confidence, celebrating young talent and giving kids the chance to proudly share their perspective with the community.

ENTRY CATEGORIES

Young photographers can enter in one of three age categories:

6–8 YEARS | 9–11 YEARS | 12–14 YEARS

Entries can capture anything that inspires you - your favourite place, people, pets, nature, sport, something funny, something beautiful or simply the world as you see it.
