Meet our team
The DCA is run by a team of volunteer committee members with two paid part-time staff: an Office Administrator and a Transit Park Manager. Our Committee is governed by the DCA Constitution, and without a committee the DCA would cease to exist. Comprised of an Executive Committee including the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, as well as up to eight general committee members, each member serves a two year term. The DCA Committee meets monthly to make key decisions on issues concerning the DCA and Dampier.
Committee Members are also encouraged to join DCA Subcommittees working on specific projects and events, such as the Dampier Billy Cart Derby.
The DCA holds an AGM once a year in Sept/Oct where six committee members’ terms expire, with these positions being declared open for nomination. All DCA Members are eligible to nominate and retiring Committee Members are eligible to re-nominate.
For more information about how to become a DCA Committee Member please use our online enquiry form, contact the DCA or complete a DCA Committee Nomination form.

DCA Citizen of the year awards
Hosted annually since 1979, the DCA Ernie Williams Citizen of the Year Awards seek to recognise Dampier’s unique community spirit and the exceptional efforts of volunteers in our community. The Awards are named in honour of Mr. Ernie Williams, the first President of the Dampier Community Association, established in 1968.
There are two categories open to Dampier residents: Citizen of the Year and Youth Citizen of the Year (18 years and under). Nominees, who must be residents of Dampier, are judged on their voluntary contribution to the Dampier community in the areas of sport, youth, culture, charity, religion or community service. Nominators may be Dampier residents, or non-residents who are associated with a Dampier-based club, group or organisation. Current DCA Committee Members are ineligible to nominate or be nominated.
Please consider submitting a nomination form to acknowledge those in our community who give up their precious time to make Dampier a better place. Some of our recent deserving recipients are:
- Sharon Sewell (2017)
- Jack Mitschuinig (2017 Youth)
- Ron Quince (2017 DCA Life Membership)
