Jodie Wilson - "The Squash Queen"

Jodie has lived in Karratha for 14 years but made the move across the causeway to Dampier in 2017, along with her husband Troy and their two boys.

Jodie brought with her a love of, a fountain of knowledge about, and a skill for, all things ‘squash’.  Joining the Dampier Squash Club two years ago, she is solely responsible for re-introducing the game of squash to the youth of Dampier, reinvigorating the Club and opening the doors to many new faces.

Not only coaching the kids in the game of squash, Jodie also teaches them the importance of the ethics of the game.  As a result the children have developed a love and respect for the sport and are more than willing to volunteer to help out around the Club and during events.

Last year Jodie organised and managed a fun wind up for the Club.  She designed and sourced shirts for the kids, not only to wear for competitions, but to show off their Club and they’re often to be seen cycling or skating around Dampier proudly brandishing their Squash Club colours.

Jodie has great plans for the Dampier Squash Club, she is establishing connections with other clubs, as far north as Broome, to open up more competition outside the City of Karratha area.

Jodie was nominated by Wendy Van Dongen.
