The Dampier Community Association (DCA) is pleased to be hosting our Dampier Photography Awards again this year. Designed to showcase and celebrate the talents of local photographers of all ages and abilities, these Awards are only open to residents of the City of Karratha area. With our community’s support we hope this initiative will grow to become another of the DCA’s successful and highly anticipated annual events.

The theme for this year’s Dampier Photography Awards is ‘Pure’. We want to inspire local photographers to capture that pure aspect, developing unique photos that will captivate and delight their audience. Could it be pure colour, pure emotion, pure beauty, pure love, pure devotion, pure symmetry, pure calm, pure innocence, pure delight, pure nature, pure inspiration…? We can’t wait to see how our local snappers will portray their interpretation of ‘Pure’ when taking shots for the ‘Theme’ category.

The Dampier Photography Awards will have five different categories for photographers to enter. All visitors to the Main Exhibition, or our online Virtual Awards, will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite photograph in the ‘People’s Choice’ Award.

An exclusive invitation-only Opening Night event will be held on Friday 15 September, where entrants, sponsors and guests will have the first opportunity to view the Exhibition and purchase their favourite photo. Category winners will be announced, prizes will be awarded and the creative achievements of our local photographers will be celebrated. The Exhibition at the Dampier Community Hall will then open to the public for a three week period, followed by a two-week Winners Exhibition on display at the Dampier Community Hub Foyer.

The DCA is proud to manage the Dampier Photography Awards with assistance from our community members and valued local sponsors. We look forward to these Awards becoming an important grass roots cultural event, supporting all local photographers, and particularly encouraging young, amateur and emerging shutterbugs to pursue photography and build their creative confidence.
